ABOUT PASCAL
Pascal Atuma – Hollywood/ Nollywood USA Actor & Filmmaker. Writer and Producer of Only In America, Hurricane In The Rose Garden, Capital Blues, My American Nurse 1 & 2 and No More Bloodshed (In pre-production). He has also starred in many Nollywood films, most recently, Through the Glass, The Other Side of Love, Faithfulness etc, just to mention a few. His films are always audience favorites in many of the film festivals around the world. He has also showcased his directing talent with his hit comedy series “My American Nurse” 1 & 2, “Okoto the Messenger” 1 & 2 , and “Who is the Man” 1 & 2.
Pascal was born inUmuahia, Abia State Nigeria to a loving family of 7 children (4 boys & 3 girls). He moved to the United States in 1995 after attending Government College, Umuahia – (Abia State, Nigeria) & University of Port Harcourt (Rivers State – Nigeria) where he tried his hand in Civil Engineering before finally pursuing his calling – film-making. His transition started with a stint in live theatre after graduating from Kim Dawson Acting College – Dallas, TX in May 2002. He did not waste any time relocating to Hollywood the same month that he graduated from acting school. It was not an easy road, but with the divine help of a fellow Nigerian Michael Ajakwe Jr.(Hollywood based Writer, Film Director/Producer), who had already made his mark in Hollywood, Pascal was able to quickly establish his ground by studying his environment and mastering the game in Hollywood.
Under the tutelage of his mentors, Michael and his Godfather in the business, Ayuko Babu (founder of the Pan African Film Festival), Pascal has blossomed into a creative and talented professional who is able to hold his own in the entertainment industry. Pascal is well respected in the Nigerian Nollywood Industry as a visionary who is working relentlessly to bridge the gap and dichotomy between Nollywood and Hollywood.
Pascal Atuma is a very spiritual man whose strong Christian belief and background play
a major part in his life and career. His hope is one day to establish a foundation that will
make sure that “no talent is left behind or wasted in Africa”
Pascal has worked with notable Hollywood/Nollywood actors like Aloma Wright, Tangi Miller, Michael Blackson,Hakeem Kae Kazim,Ramsey Nouah, Jim Iyke, Tanjareen Martin, Karri Turner, Ini Edo, Stephanie Okereke, Tonto Dike etc. His most recent movie, My American Nurse 2, was released into the North American Market (USA & Canada) June 8th, 2010 and quickly became the number one selling African movie in the USA & Canada. His films “Only in America & Hurricane in the Rose Garden” were released mainstream worldwide by Maverick’s Entertainment. His products are in Walmart, Redbox, Blockburster, Netflix, BestBuy, Amazon etc.
At many film festivals, Pascal Atuma has been constantly referred to by his colleagues as the Tyler Perry of Africa. If this is true, time will only tell but his vision and creative mind will continue to do his heritage proud.
